Chief Operating Officer
Caryl is Chief Operating officer for Left Travel Inc., Left’s wholly-owned subsidiary, and responsible for this division’s day-to-day operations. Prior to this role, she was the Senior Project Manager for Left and has been a technology project manager for the past 15 years. Some of her distinguished clients include Microsoft, Coast Capital Savings, and Vancity Credit Unit. Her career started out in operational management for a large European leisure company in the UK. There, she worked for 11 years in 14 different roles. She expanded her work to all over Europe managing a team who implemented systems and IT infrastructure. Caryl has an MSc in E-commerce from Huddersfield University, and she has been PMP certified since 2010. When not whipping the Left team into peak operational efficiency, you can find her cheering on runners at the Left Running Club, a group she started in 2015. She was involved for several years volunteering with the YWCA mentoring program in Vancouver. This program was for women looking to go back into the work force.
Dr. Jason Ernst
Chief Networking Scientist
Jason Ernst heads up Left Labs, the R&D division for Left and YO!. Jason holds a PhD in the field of Mesh Networking and Heterogeneous Wireless Networks as well as a M.Sc. on Scheduling Techniques for Wireless Mesh Networks, both from the Applied Computing faculty at the University of Guelph. Jason has more than 20 published papers on wireless networks, cognitive agents, FPGAs, and soft-computing topics and has presented his research at international conferences around the world. Prior to joining Left, Jason was the CTO of Redtree Robotics, which designed robots that made use of multiple radio technologies to ensure pervasive connectivity to each other and their operators. With Left, Jason works closely with the Engineering, YO! mobile application, and mesh platform teams to ensure off-grid, high-speed, reliable connectivity is an option in variable environments. When not designing next generation networks, you would find Jason outdoors on his mountain bike or winning hackathons and coding contests.
Chief Product Officer
A mobile enthusiast and versatile player in the tech space, Saju has more than 15 years of experience with mobile technologies and has worked with organizations such as Lucent Technologies, Movius, NEC and OnMobile. In previous lives, Saju has been a software developer, architect, trainer, product manager and program manager. Saju’s mission is to make a difference towards improving the quality of life for people – and he hopes to do so through technology and innovation. While working as the bridge between marketing and engineering, Saju owns the product strategy, roadmap, and communication plan for
, while providing overall guidance about product excellence and product/market fit to the entire Left team. His credentials include a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering and an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore – consistently ranked as one of the best business schools in India and in the entire Asia Pacific region.
Co-Founder and CTO
Rakib specializes in software architecture development and is an innovative and results-driven leader focused on achieving exceptional results. In his role as CTO, Rakib directs the development team and sets the pace for Left’s technology and infrastructure, including key recruitment of engineering and mobile technologists. Rakib is also the CEO of W3 Engineers, Left’s ISO-9000 certified operating company in Bangladesh, where he is experienced in driving products, process, and customer service improvements. An active member of BASIS (Bangladesh Association for Software and Information Services), he frequently travels abroad to present an example of the ‘new’ Bangladesh and speak about economic empowerment. Rakib’s credentials include a Master’s Degree in Computer Science and Applications from Pune University, India, as well as being a participant in the US Department of State Professional Fellows Program for Young Entrepreneurs at the University of Oklahoma.

John is an entrepreneur and a successful marketer with more than 20 years of experience in promoting, launching, designing, and jumpstarting new businesses and products through innovative marketing concepts. For Left, John is the idea guy. John’s forte is to leverage technology, marketing, and product hacks to bring new ideas to market. In addition to growing and coaching an ever-expanding team of Lefties, John is the acting CEO of
, Left’s mobile platform subsidiary engaged in off-grid messaging and content discovery. John is a key contributor to the global strategy, vision, and technology roadmap for Left and its subsidiary brands. While John received a Bachelors of Arts from the University of British Colombia (English and Art History), he has a unique ability to understand technical parlance having spent more than 15 years in enterprise software and Internet startups. A natural leader and teacher, John’s passions are for his family (both at home and the surrogate Left family) and for the culture and values on which Left is built.

Chris began his career in the UK working for multi-nationals and banks and continued on in the banking and brokerage industry upon moving to Canada. He has a strong understanding of the finance markets and has lived the pain of raising capital for early stage companies during the beginning stages of growth, from 25 to 80+ employees. He has founded several start-up companies in his career, two of which have now won

. In his role as CEO for Left, Chris thrives on understanding the big picture and on moving the levers that drive the company forward. This includes financing, strategic partnerships, and corporate development. Chris holds a BSc (Honours) in Economics and History from Queen Mary University of London.
